Case study 8

  • Project Global tax programme
  • Sector Industrial equipment
  • Date Late 1990s

The project entailed managing the feasibility, design and implementation of a global tax programme for a leading UK manufacturing company with extensive operations in the US and Europe. Ultimately this involved putting in place a number of structures, simultaneously, across many countries.

The project overall comprised around 20 sub-projects, and involved the input of tax professionals and their client counterparts across three continents. The work was heavily US biased and required exceptional skills in managing virtual teams.

The assignment was substantially complete by the end of 1999 and realised benefits of many tens of millions of dollars, exceeding original expectations. This was followed up with a programme of bespoke post-implementation reviews.
